Baked barley casserole. I'm working through the eastern European "sour belt" and this dish really exemplifies the culture's love of sharply flavored dishes. I love sour but I'm not digging what we've been eating in this region (although the Hungarian paprikash from last night was pretty terrific). This dinner had lots of vegetables but no garlic and only parsley, salt, and pepper for seasoning. Onward!
