I forgot to take a photo of this truly awful soup. The recipe I found for knoephla was bland and featured potatoes and weird tough dumpling like noodles.

Lithuania

A rare complete failure! I even watched a video about how to make cepelinai, but these stuffed dumplings fell apart in the poaching liquid. I was smart enough to try one as a test, and since it didn't work I repurposed the filling (ground turkey) into little patties, fried the remaining shredded potato and bacon and served it with some sour cream.  Lithuania is a fascinating country. They produce some of the tallest and best basketball players in the world. It was the last pagan country in Europe (!). Lithuanian is one of the oldest languages in the world. Who knew? 09/03/21
